WASF receives
its direction from its Council
of members, which meet annually to review policies, elect
the Board and receive the Annual Report. WASF is governed by
a
Board elected by the membership at the
AGM in October/November each year.
The current Board comprises of:

Chairman,
Mike Allenby
Board member since 1998
Managing Director of
Gleam Enterprises P/L; former CEO
of the WA Cricket Association from 1998-2001. Technical Director of
Aquionics
Laboratories (Malaysia). Mike has a B.Sc from UWA and is a Fellow of
the Australian Institute of
Management as well as a Fellow of C.D.A and Fellow of Australian
Institute of Company Directors. Mike's sporting involvements include
playing over 300 senior league
soccer games in both WA and the USA .
He has coached cricket and soccer at all levels from the premier
grades/divisions through to sub-juniors. He has played WACA
grade
cricket and was the President of Claremont Nedlands Cricket Club
in the late 1990's. Mike is a playing member of Cottesloe Golf
Club.

Deputy
Chairperson, David
Armstrong
Board member since 2005
David is currently a
Director - Timeglow Promotional,
Corporate and Sportswear P/L; Chairman
- Cycling WA; and consulting to
the sport and not-for-profit sector.
He has held previous positions as a National Development Officer NSW
Surf Lifesaving; Chief Executive Officer Surf Life Saving WA; and Chief
Executive Officer Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation.
In surf lifesaving David has won state championships in NSW
and
WA, and Australian Championship medals. In amateur AFL he
represented the Mount Lawley AFC in 'A' Grade and was selected in the
state U/21 and senior teams.
He is an accredited coach, has tertiary qualifications in communication
and business, and is Chairman of WASF's Audit and Remuneration
Committee.

Rick
Smith LLB,
Board member since
2000
Currently
CEO of Basketball WA,
Director RG Global, Executive Coach, and Volunteer Surf
Lifesaver
with the North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club.
Lecturer, Edith Cowan University - Sport and Leisure Law.
Former Barrister and Solicitor, CEO Rugby WA, and Senior Policy Officer
with the Department of Sport and Recreation. He was also a
former
State Rugby, Swimming and Surf Lifesaving Representative, Level 3 Rugby
Coach and a Level 2 Rugby Referee.
Extensive experience in the Sport and Recreation Industry,
presentations at conferences and seminar delivery to overseas National
Sporting Associations on risk management.

Rick
Gill,
Board Member since 2004
Currently Executive Director of Motorcycling Western
Australia.
Rick has 20 years experience competing in motorcycle sport including
international level.
Previous experience in regional development and personal interest in a
number of sports, has given Rick a broad community outlook important to
be successful in managing and developing sport in Western Australia.

Lisa
Bradock,
Board Member since 2006
Lisa is
currently employed in the public sector as the manager of project
governance for the Fiona Stanley Hospital, the largest hospital
construction project in WA's history. Prior to
this, Lisa was employed as CEO of Netball WA for 4 and a half years,
following 3 years as general manager of the Junior Soccer
Association of Western Australia.
She is also a member of the Board of Women's Golf WA and is Chair of
the Film & Television Institute (FTI). Lisa possesses
a
variety of skills and experiences, particularly relating to strategic
business and people management, in a range of industry areas across
the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

Cameron
Knapton,
Board Member since
2007
Cameron is currently
the General Manager of the West
Australian Country
Football League, a position he has held for the last nine years.
Prior to that he worked for five years in the WAFL
competition
as a
Club Football Manager and General Manager following his introduction
into sports administration as a Development Officer for both football
and cricket.
Cameron also serves as Secretary of the Australian Country Football
Council. He is still actively involved in sports as a member
of
the
Western Whalers Veterans Football Club. |

Paul
Andrew,
Board Member since 2008
Since
July 2005 Paul has been the
CEO of Surf Life Saving Western Australia and prior
to this
time was employed by St John of God Health Care, Murdoch as the
Director
Corporate Services. Paul has been involved as an AFL player and coach
predominately at Mt Lawley AFC and is a Life Member at the City of Perth Surf Life
Saving Club
where he has held numerous position over 30 years of service, including
5 years
as club President.

Michael
Beros,
Board Member since
2011
Michael is currently
Regional General Manager for Toyota WA Distributor Pty Ltd and
has been involved is Sales and marketing for the past 21 years with
Toyota. In 2008 Michael was appointed as the Director of Flinders
Medical Centre Foundation, South Australia and is and is a current
ambassador of the Adelaide Football Club being appointed in September
2008.
Michael has maintained a
strong interest in the role sport plays in in shaping community ethos,
specifically through his involvements with the Adelaide Football Club,
Swimming WA, The Luke Adams Foundation and the West Coast Eagles.
Michael understands the
importance of successful sporting and corporate partnerships through
well structured transparent strategic directions built on foundations
of mutually agreed objectives.
With a young family Michael
is more conscious of the importance of grass roots sports and how they
can be leveraged to develop both technical and social skills in our
junior community.

Mike
Wood ,
Board Member since 2009
Mike
has had a long involvement
in recreation. He is the Managing Director, Mountain
Designs WA. He is the President of the Munda Biddi Trail and
Bibbulum Track Foundation and Chair of the Water,
Recreation,
Sport and Tourism Alliance (WARSTA). Mike has also been
involved
in a range of expeditions including, the first descent of the Sun Kosi
river in Nepal; leading groups around Nepal for many years and leading
the end to end on the Bibbulmun Track Foundation. Chair of
Bibbulmun Track; member of the Board Munda Biddi Trail Foundation;
Director of Peregrine Adventures.

Hayley
Lethlean,
Board Member since
2011
Hayley currently holds the position of
Executive Officer
of Triathlon Western Australia and prior to this was CEO of Equestrian
Western Australia. In addition to experience in managing state sport
associations, Hayley has been actively involved in sport facility
management both within Australia and previously in South
Africa.
Hayley has been actively involved in
sport from a young
age, participating in equestrian sports, as an equestrian coach, a
volunteer within clubs and as a member of various sporting boards.
Hayley has tertiary education within the agricultural and business
industry and is a past Board Member of Equestrian WA Board. Hayley is
very passionate about promoting the broader benefits of participating
within sport to all within the community.

Rob
Thompson,
CEO
Rob has a long
involvement with sport as a participant,
volunteer coach and administrator. His professional roles commenced at
the WACA in 1988 following 12 years employment in education.
After 15 years in various roles with the WACA (the last 6 as Cricket
Manager), he joined a private community development consultancy in 2003
and focused on building communities in expanding metropolitan
residential developments.
As an accredited coach, Rob has continued his involvement in sport
through coaching and administering junior cricket and AFL in both
community and school environments.

Cheryl
Poustie,
Administrative Assistant
Cheryl has been with
WASF since August 2007.
Previously employed by Baseball WA as the State Registrar.
A Baseball scorer with UWA Baseball Club and Carine Cats Ball Club
(Baseball Division) and Life member Carine Cats Ball
Club. Team Manager, Women's Premier 2 Hockey Team with North
Coast Raiders Hockey Club. Passionate about crafts, particularly cross
stitch.

Helen
Cunningham,
Communications Manager
Helen has been
working with WASF since March 2008.
Helen has worked in the field of Sports Development in both the
UK and Australia. Helen has worked in the area of inclusive sport and
recreation before her role with WASF and is passionate about developing
sport and recreation at all levels.
Helen has been involved in a range of sports as a player,
volunteer and coach and is currently involved
with both
Netball and Gaelic Football.

Hayley
Chandler,
Project Officer
Hayley has been
working with WASF since August 2010.
Hayley has worked in Sport and Recreation for the past 6
years. She first started in the industry in 2005 as a Personal Trainer.
She has since worked in administration at the Herb Graham Recreation
Centre, working closely with the CaLD community.
Hayley is passionate about all areas of sport and recreation. She is a
keen AFL fan and plays wheelchair basketball socially.
