Becoming a Member

Any person or organisation who has an interest in sport and active recreation can seek membership. Membership of the WA Sports Federation (WASF) has many associated benefits.

When applying for membership, please ensure that you apply for the appropriate category.

New Members will be advised once their membership status has been confirmed.


WASF membership is open to any organisation or person, in the three categories listed below:

Full Member 

Full Members must be engaged in the conduct, administration, promotion and development of sport/active recreation and be the representative body in Western Australia.

The annual  membership fees for Full members is $185 including GST for the 2019/20 financial year, beginning 1 July 2019.

Affiliate Member 

Affiliate Members must be engaged in pursuits complementary to the activities of Full Members including:

(a) any Western Australian organisation which has a key role in the increase of participation in sport/active recreation in Western Australia

(b) any regional Sport Council which represents the sport/active recreation interests

(c) any organisation that provides participation in sport/active recreation but does not qualify for Full Affiliate membership

The annual membership fees for Affiliate members is $185 including GST for the 2019/20 financial year, beginning 1 July 2019.

Individual Member 

Individual Members are people interested in furthering the objectives of WASF.  The annual membership for Individual members is $65 including GST for the 2019/20 financial year, beginning 1 July 2019.

Full and Affiliate members of WASF should nominate a delegate to serve on the WASF Council. Your organisation’s delegate is referred to as a “WASF Councillor” and will be your organisation’s key contact with the Federation. The Councillor is invited to attend the Annual General Meeting and General Meetings of the WASF Council, which are held up to three times a year. These meetings are an opportunity for Councillors to be updated about key items in the sport and recreation industry, raise any additional topics and network with other Members.

Your organisation’s nominated WASF Councillor will be the contact for the receipt of all correspondence from WASF. Correspondence will include Council Meeting notices and documentation, membership renewals, newsletters and industry information.

In order to keep Members well informed, all WASF Members have the opportunity to receive weekly Sportsview Alerts and monthly Sportsview eNewsletters via email. This will keep you up to date on the latest news and events in the sport and recreation industry.
