The WA Sports Federation (WASF), with the support of the Department of Sport and Recreation, delivers a range of Projects to assist members and the wider sport and active recreation community.
These projects are based on industry needs and are designed to build the capacity of organisations through support, training and provision of resources where required.
Current projects of WASF include:
Top Plan is a planning tool assisting sporting associations and clubs to guide themselves into the future. This innovative approach is based on contemporary management practices and is developed with the contribution from both club and committee members.
The service offers assistance ranging from information, education, referral to further support agencies and subsidised mediation. The types of disputes may include governance related matters, conflicts of interest, grievances under the organisation’s Member Protection policy and by-law breaches for off-field conduct.
The Fair Safe Sport project provides a personal reference, relevant information, training and resources to the sport and active recreation industry. With the underlying principle of building and maintaining a positive culture, the purpose of Fair Safe Sport is to build the capacity of state sport associations and their affiliated clubs. This can be achieved by establishing and maintaining safe and fair environments.
The Financial Management Support Project has two primary aims:
- To design and implement a financial framework for sport and recreation organisations that would lead to improved quality of financial information, efficiency of processing and consistency of approach; and
- Support boards, staff and volunteers to prepare and use their financial information to better plan and manage their organisation’s business.
