Vale Graham “Polly” Farmer
On behalf of the WA sport community, the WA Sports Federation extends condolences to the Farmer family, as tributes flow for Graham “Polly” Farmer across WA and the whole of the country following his passing earlier this week.
Among the finest exponents of Australian Rules Football in which he won three Sandover Medals, 10 Best and Fairests, four Simpson Medals and six Premierships, Graham Farmer had an enormous impact on the game on both sides of the country.
He was named ruckman in the AFL’s Team of the Century, captain of the Indigenous Team of the Century and an inaugural Legend in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
Graham Farmer was committed to the belief that all Aboriginal children should be able to reach their birthright potential and established the Graham “Polly” Farmer Foundation to help young Aboriginal people follow their dreams.
